25th Annual Spencer/Gallagher Golf Tournament
Start RIMS ‘16 by celebrating risk management and insurance education at the top ranked golf course in San
Diego. Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. and the Spencer Educational Foundation invite you to join us in celebrating the tournament’s 25th anniversary. Playing at the Maderas Golf Club, this year’s event will feature old friends,new opportunities, good food, great fun and prizes.
Location: Maderas Golf Club
Format: Team scramble, shotgun start. You can register as a team or as an individual. We will make every
effort to group partial teams and individuals to make full teams.

RIMS ’16 Community Service Day: Harmonium
Join RIMS as we spend the day volunteering with Harmonium, a non-profit organization whose mission is to
promote well-being and self-sufficiency in children, youth and adults through creative education, intervention and prevention services rooted in collaboration with neighborhoods and families. Harmonium was established in 1975 through an enterprising blend of vision and necessity to respond to Mira Mesa’s rapidly growing need for juvenile diversion services. We’ll spend the day working at their Klassic Kids program, which provides before and after school care and full-day care at designated sites on non-school days in a creative, educational environment. Community Service Day volunteers will help fix-up the school sites by painting, landscaping, installing siding, cleaning and other various maintenance projects.

Our speaker, author Debra Fine, will share tips to develop and cultivate outstanding conversation skills. After, we’ll depart for RIMS Opening Reception where you can put your improved networking skills into practice. As a first-time attendee, you’ll gain practical tips.

2nd Annual Spencer 5K Fun Run Presented by Sedgwick
Sedgwick and Spencer invite you to join us for a fun run to help raise awareness and funds for the Spencer Educational Foundation. The course covers 3.14 miles along San Diego’s picturesque waterfront and will go through Embarcadero Marina Park (located behind the convention center). New this year: Individual chipped timing! Team entries are available for you to compete with and against your industry colleagues.

Community Service Project in the Exhibit Hall: Blessings in a Backpack
Join RIMS for RIMS 2016 Community Service Project in the Exhibit Hall at the San Diego Convention Center. RIMS ‘16 attendees will volunteer their time to assist Blessings in a Backpack with their mission guided by the belief that our social and economic future depends on the quality of a young child’s experiences. Blessings in a Backpack provides elementary school children who are on the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of food to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare, ready-to-eat foods, like granola bars, juice boxes, mac and cheese, and oatmeal. Volunteers will put together backpacks that will be donated to local elementary schools.

Conference Finale and Closing Keynote: Martin Short
Martin Short began his career on Canada’s SCTV Comedy Network, where his work garnered an Emmy Award. Short’s proven ability as a comedic chameleon and his host of hilarious impressions gained the attention of Saturday Night Live. With the tremendous exposure he gained on SNL, he was on the Hollywood fast track and quickly crossed over into feature film work. Short made his big screen debut in Three Amigos, where he worked alongside former SNL colleagues Chevy Chase and Steve Martin. Over the years he has continued to land plum comedic roles in theatrical releases such as Inner Space, Three Fugitives, Clifford, Mars Attacks, Jungle 2 Jungle and The Big Picture, among others. Perhaps his most memorable role was that of the scene-stealing Franck, the wedding planner in Father of the Bride. He later reprised his hilarious portrayal for Father of the Bride II.
